Hagerman WMA Ponds

Series of spring-fed ponds in Hagerman Wildlife Management Area. Oster Lakes stocked regularly with rainbow trout. Anderson Ponds have warmwater fish - bass, bluegill, crappie. Clear spring water allows year-round fishing. Excellent 'take a kid fishing' destination.

Species: Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Crappie. Difficulty: beginner. Approachable for first-timers and families.

Best timing: Spring and Summer and Fall and Winter. Spring fishing keys on warming water and emerging insects. Summer fishes best at first light and late evening; midday is technical. Fall is prime — heavy feeding before winter, fewer crowds. Winter access is for dedicated anglers; ice conditions vary year to year.

The Magic Valley sits on top of the Snake River Plain aquifer — meaning constant-temperature springs that produce some of the West's best small-stream trout fishing.
