Most notably a Kokanee fishery, but anglers also catch Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout, Fall Chinook, Smallmouth Bass, and Yellow Perch. Early season Kokanee can be caught shallow (1-15 feet), but downriggers are needed as summer warms up to reach depths of 35-80 feet.

Species: Kokanee Salmon, Chinook Salmon, Yellow Perch, Smallmouth Bass, Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout. Difficulty: intermediate. Some experience pays off here.
Best timing: Spring and Summer. Spring fishing keys on warming water and emerging insects. Summer fishes best at first light and late evening; midday is technical.
Regulations: Kokanee limit is 15 per day. Bull Trout catch-and-release only. Always confirm with the current IDFG rule book before fishing.
The Magic Valley sits on top of the Snake River Plain aquifer — meaning constant-temperature springs that produce some of the West's best small-stream trout fishing. Silver Creek, the Big Wood, and the Snake below Hagerman all benefit. The Owyhee tailwater anchors the southwestern edge. Twin Falls, Hagerman, Ketchum, and Sun Valley are the bases.
Plan for the experience level the fishery rewards.
