Sources, limits and corrections
Roam Idaho is an independent planning resource. It brings published records and guides together; it is not an official agency publication or a certification that a place is open, accessible or safe.
This product uses the Census Bureau Data API but is not endorsed or certified by the Census Bureau.
Where the information comes from
- Idaho Fish and Game
Hunting and fishing rules, species information, stocking records and public-access information. Match the year, exact hunt or water reach, species, tag and method to your plan.
- Bureau of Land Management
Surface-management context, recreation information and local orders. Ownership data does not establish an open road, a legal entry route or permission for a specific activity.
- US Forest Service
Forest and district information, Motor Vehicle Use Maps and closure orders. Check the specific forest and current order; a trail line on another map is not authorization for motorized travel.
- Idaho Department of Lands
State endowment-land recreation conditions and fire-restriction resources. Rules and restrictions can differ from neighboring federal lands.
- USGS Water Data
Streamflow and other observations where a reporting gauge exists. A gauge reading represents that station and timestamp, not every part of a river or a safe-crossing assessment.
- National Weather Service
Hourly and daily grid forecasts from api.weather.gov. Forecasts may be delayed, unavailable, or differ from local conditions; they are not station observations or a substitute for official warnings.
- NOAA Global Monitoring Laboratory
The published solar equations used for sunrise and sunset estimates. These calculated times are planning estimates, not an official legal determination; confirm applicable hunting rules with Idaho Fish and Game.
- U.S. Census Bureau Geocoder and Gazetteer
Submitted street addresses are geocoded by Census address ranges; Idaho place names and Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas use bundled Census coordinates. Address points are approximate, and ZCTAs are statistical approximations—not a USPS ZIP-code directory.
Facility admission, reservations and schedules should be confirmed with the operator. Map imagery, elevation and base-map data have their own providers, shown in the map attribution.
Terrain elevation credits
Hunting-map hillshade uses Terrarium-encoded elevation tiles. The tiles combine source datasets that vary by location and zoom; this list is not a claim that every listed dataset contributes to every tile, that all data share one license, or that the tiles are current navigation data. The AWS registry points to Tilezen’s attribution documentation for Terrain Tiles.

Records, estimates and live conditions
Listed seasons, stocking events, harvest statistics, fees and route descriptions can be historical. A calculated season status reflects the dates available in the record; it does not account for every emergency order, tag restriction or closure. Missing information means unknown, not zero or unrestricted.
Weather and fire overlays depend on outside services and may be delayed or unavailable. A blank overlay does not establish an absence of hazards. Use official orders and local instructions for access and emergency decisions.
Our current maps do not provide parcel-level private ownership, dependable offline region downloads or built-in turn-by-turn navigation. Saved favorites can be stored in your browser rather than synchronized between devices. Check the current plan features before subscribing.
How to read our guides
Roam Idaho combines imported agency records with written planning guidance. Software and AI-assisted tools may help organize data and drafts. A byline or an updated page is not proof that every record was independently field-verified. Follow the linked primary source for consequential details.
Publication and update dates describe the article, not the freshness of every external dataset. Site photographs and illustrations should not be used to establish present conditions at a destination. We do not treat legacy ratings or a recommended label as verified customer reviews.
Report a correction
Email Taylor with a correction. Include the page URL, the specific statement or map record, and a current agency or operator source if available. Do not send private account credentials or sensitive location information. A report does not change the listing until it has been reviewed.
