Lake Cleveland

A scenic 24-acre mountain lake in the Albion Mountains. Motor restrictions keep it peaceful. Regularly stocked with rainbow trout and Yellowstone Cutthroat fry. Camping and toilets available. Great high-country fishing experience.

Species: Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout. Difficulty: beginner. Approachable for first-timers and families.

Best timing: Summer and Fall. Summer fishes best at first light and late evening; midday is technical. Fall is prime — heavy feeding before winter, fewer crowds.

Magic Valley context

The Magic Valley sits on top of the Snake River Plain aquifer — meaning constant-temperature springs that produce some of the West's best small-stream trout fishing. Silver Creek, the Big Wood, and the Snake below Hagerman all benefit. The Owyhee tailwater anchors the southwestern edge. Twin Falls, Hagerman, Ketchum, and Sun Valley are the bases.
