Mountain lions occupy virtually all of Idaho's mountainous terrain, from the Panhandle to the Owyhee desert. They follow deer and elk populations, prefer rocky, rugged terrain with good cover. Lions are most common in the Clearwater, Salmon River breaks, and central Idaho wilderness.
