Hayden Lake

3,797-acre lake north of Coeur d'Alene with good bass, perch, pike, and trout fishing. Popular recreational lake with good shore access.

Species: Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, Rainbow Trout. Difficulty: beginner. Approachable for first-timers and families.

Best timing: Spring and Summer and Fall. Spring fishing keys on warming water and emerging insects. Summer fishes best at first light and late evening; midday is technical. Fall is prime — heavy feeding before winter, fewer crowds.

Regulations: No limit on pike. Always confirm with the current IDFG rule book before fishing.
