Wild rivers and high ranges
The Salmon region is anchored by the Main Salmon — the River of No Return — and bordered by three of Idaho's tallest mountain ranges: the Lemhi, Lost River, and Beaverhead. Borah Peak, Idaho's highpoint at 12,667 feet, sits at the southern end. Most off-road exploring here is high, dry, and exposed: long alluvial valleys, single-lane forest roads climbing into the timber, and ghost-mining basins above 9,000 feet.
