Arrowrock Reservoir

A 3,015-acre reservoir with fast-growing Kokanee and rainbow trout targeted by most anglers. Also offers smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Bull trout utilize the reservoir year-round - be sure to properly identify your catch. Reservoir levels fluctuate widely.

Species: Kokanee Salmon, Yellow Perch, Mountain Whitefish, Smallmouth Bass, Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout. Difficulty: intermediate. Some experience pays off here.

Best timing: Spring and Summer and Fall. Spring fishing keys on warming water and emerging insects. Summer fishes best at first light and late evening; midday is technical. Fall is prime — heavy feeding before winter, fewer crowds.

Regulations: Southwest Region Bag Limits. Bull Trout catch-and-release. Kokanee limit 6. Always confirm with the current IDFG rule book before fishing.

Magic Valley context

The Magic Valley sits on top of the Snake River Plain aquifer — meaning constant-temperature springs that produce some of the West's best small-stream trout fishing. Silver Creek, the Big Wood, and the Snake below Hagerman all benefit. The Owyhee tailwater anchors the southwestern edge. Twin Falls, Hagerman, Ketchum, and Sun Valley are the bases.
